How to measure yourself for a suit, tuxedo or sherwani

Accurate measurements are the difference between a good fit and a great one. Follow the steps below with a soft tape and a friend's help, or let us take your measurements with you on a video call.

Prefer not to measure yourself?

We take your measurements with you on a video call and double-check them, so your fit is right.

Before you start

  • Use a soft tape measure, the kind tailors use.
  • Wear thin or fitted clothing. Don't measure over a jacket or heavy layers.
  • Stand naturally and relaxed, feet together.
  • Keep the tape snug, not tight, and level with the floor.
  • Ask someone to help, especially for shoulders, sleeves and lengths.
  • Measure both arms. They often differ slightly.
  • Measure twice and write each number down.
  • Stay in one unit, inches or centimeters, for every measurement.

Suit and tuxedo measurements

Tap a number on the figure to jump to that step. Thirteen measurements: eleven for the jacket and shirt, two for the pants.

Sherwani and prince coat

Use the same neck, chest, stomach, shoulder, sleeve, bicep, wrist, waist and hip measurements from the steps above. Then add the length you want.

Hold the tape at the base of your neck, at the side of the collar, and measure down to where you want the hem to fall.

Tell us your preferred length

Choose a hem length: above the knee, at the knee, or below the knee. Mention it on your video call.

Measurement questions

What measurements do I need for a custom suit?

For the jacket and shirt: neck, chest, stomach, jacket length, shoulder, sleeve, bicep and wrist. For the pants: waist, hip, thigh, inseam and outseam. Your height and weight help us check everything.

Can I measure myself, or do I need help?

You can measure yourself, but a friend makes shoulders, sleeves and lengths much more accurate. You can also book a video-call fitting and we'll take your measurements with you.

Inches or centimeters?

Either works. Use one unit for every measurement and tell us which one you used.

What if I'm between sizes?

Send the exact numbers you measured. Each garment is made to your measurements, not to a standard size.

How does the video-call fitting work?

We take your measurements with you on a video call and double-check them. Use the "Book a video-call fitting" button at the top of this page to choose a time.

What if my outfit doesn't fit?

Because your measurements are taken carefully and double-checked, fit problems are rare. If something isn't right, contact us and [ADD YOUR FIT AND REMAKE POLICY HERE]. See our refund policy for details.
